{"id":106877,"date":"2023-02-04T22:28:13","date_gmt":"2023-02-04T20:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/?p=106877"},"modified":"2023-02-05T23:26:09","modified_gmt":"2023-02-05T21:26:09","slug":"moldova-hosted-the-21-sup-st-sup-epac-eacn-annual-conference-and-general-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/en\/moldova-hosted-the-21-sup-st-sup-epac-eacn-annual-conference-and-general-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Moldova hosted the 21<sup>st<\/sup> EPAC\/EACN Annual Conference and General Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 21st Annual Professional Conference and General Assembly of the European Partners against Corruption and European contact-point network against corruption (EPAC\/EACN) took place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u on 23-24 November 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-day conference brought together more than 180 participants from 24 different countries, prominent speakers from international organizations, EU agencies, national authorities and EPAC\/EACN members to discuss topics related to the investigation of high-level corruption cases, international cooperation and information exchange, criminal assets recovery, as well as new tools of corruption prevention and risk assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was opened by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. In her opening speech, the President confirmed the EPAC\/EACN Conference is a wonderful opportunity for the representatives of Moldovan local authorities to make contacts with experts from different countries and exchange best practices about instruments to fight corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Margret Maria Uebber, and the EU Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, J\u0101nis Ma\u017eeiks, mentioned that the decision to organize the annual EPAC conference in Chisinau is a strong signal for the efforts made by the Republic of Moldova in fighting corruption and advancing it on the European path.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image103-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-106433\" width=\"365\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image103-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image103-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image103.jpg 701w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>On 5 April 2022, Germany, France, and Romania co-hosted the \u201cMoldova Support Platform\u201d Donors&#8217; Conference in Berlin. One of the five thematic Working Groups of the Conference was dedicated to support Moldova in its efforts to fight corruption. Following Moldova\u2019s goal of countering corruption as a one of the main priorities for the country\u2019s reforms agenda, members of the Working Group have strongly agreed that corruption is a great obstacle to Moldova\u2019s path of European integration and country\u2019s development as well as a major threat to regional security, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, the Working Group concluded that all anti-corruption efforts that Moldova is taking, shall encompass complex administrative and legislative reforms pertinent to improving the national anti-corruption and integrity landscape; continuously enhancing the capacities of state anti-corruption institutions; scaling up the international legal and law enforcement cooperation to maximize the fight against corruption and recovery of criminal assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EU and the German Government contributes to fulfilling the priorities of the Moldovan Government to counter corruption by raising awareness of citizens and civil society on the harm of corruption and strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms by enhancing the capacity, accountability, and transparency of specialized state anti-corruption institutions, improving their inter-institutional coordination, communication and cooperation, and intensifying their dialogue with civil society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The support is offered through the Project \u201cStrengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova\u201d implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-106436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image104.jpg 1575w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 21st Annual Professional Conference and General Assembly of the European Partners against Corruption and European contact-point network against corruption (EPAC\/EACN) took place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u on 23-24 November 2022.
