With this statement, Evghenii Golo\u0219ceapov answers simply and understandably why we need human rights defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, the <a href=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/en\/\">Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM)<\/a> published 3 short videos to explain to society who human rights defenders are and what they do, what motivates them to fight for fundamental human rights and freedoms and why their work is important. Alina Radu, Evghenii Golo\u0219ceapov and Tatiana Corceba\u0219-Onica are the protagonists of these short films and their personal experience as human rights defenders in the Republic of Moldova has brought more clarity regarding this term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The videos promoting the experiences shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CRJM.org\/videos\/2169828090074362\/\">Alina Radu<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CRJM.org\/videos\/770674477633510\/\">Evghenii Golo\u0219ceapov<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=1581697168963378\">Tatiana Corceba\u0219-Onica<\/a> were created within the project <a href=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/en\/shield-human-rights-defenders\/\">\u201cShields for Human Rights Defenders \u2013 Supporting Human Rights Defenders in the Republic of Moldova\u02ee<\/a>, implemented by the LRCM in partnership with EcoContact Association and the International Commission of Jurists \u2013 European Institutions, with the financial support of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"566\" src=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65-1024x566.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-111563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65-1024x566.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65-768x424.jpg 768w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65-1536x848.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image65.jpg 1595w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The key message and voice of human rights defenders reached around 70,000 people online, which helped to open discussions about the challenges faced by all those who believe and promote human rights in a peaceful way. At the same time, by bringing this topic to the public\u2019s attention, it also raised awareness that defending human rights is not something abstract, but refers to initiatives and actions whereby some people demand respect and defence of fundamental rights on behalf of all citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LRCM team also created a <a href=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/en\/human-rights-defenders\/\">special webpage<\/a> dedicated to human rights defenders (HRDs), which provides information on their role and activities, as well as an infographic on <a href=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/top-5-riscuri-la-care-se-supun-aparatorii-drepturilor-omului-si-familiile-lor\/\">the most common risks<\/a> faced by HRDs and\/or their families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cHuman rights defenders are a kind of immunity.
