The social laundry service, a first for Moldovan communities, addresses a wide range of needs for people in difficult circumstances. Around 300 residents will benefit from free laundry services, personal hygiene support, and opportunities for socialising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We’re pleased with what we\u2019ve accomplished alongside the Plai organisation and grateful to the European Union for their financial support. The creation of this social laundry service adds real value to our community, improving living conditions for the vulnerable and offering new opportunities for social integration,” said Ina Ciubotaru, Mayor of Vii\u0219oara, during the opening event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project\u2019s budget is approximately \u20ac30,000, with \u20ac27,000 coming from EU funds and \u20ac3,000 contributed by local authorities. The town hall provided the space, which has been renovated, furnished, and equipped with washing machines and dryers. Additionally, a dedicated space for socialising and counselling, supported by a psychologist, has been established. Residents can also benefit from personal hygiene services, as the laundry includes a fully equipped bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The development of a social service in a rural area, through collaboration between civil society and local authorities, is a powerful example of how local partnerships can create meaningful change. This model reflects the values of the European Union: solidarity, inclusion, and cooperation. The EU remains committed to supporting Moldova\u2019s efforts to strengthen social cohesion, ensuring no one is left behind. Together, we are building a more resilient society where every citizen can live in dignity and contribute to the common good,” said Irina Be\u0219liu, Program Manager at the EU Delegation in Chisinau, who attended the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project “Promotion of CSOs as Partners in Developing Resilient Social Services” is funded by the European Union and co-financed by a consortium of civil society organisations, including Keystone Moldova, the “Dorcas-Moldova” Foundation, and the Association for “Neohumanist” Education. The project aims to establish at least 15 social services in 15 communities, benefiting vulnerable individuals through social laundry, personal hygiene, and socialisation support. Around 1,500 people facing socio-economic difficulties, including low-income individuals, the unemployed, pensioners, single-parent families, and the homeless, will benefit from these services free of charge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
