Save Chi\u0219in\u0103u.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>At the second event in the &#8220;Why Chi\u0219in\u0103u?&#8221; series, led by historian and architect Sergius Ciocanu, we explored the city&#8217;s development during the 18th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-128568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-1536x1022.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0996-2048x1363.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We learned how the villages of Chi\u0219in\u0103u and Buiucani became distinct sectors and discussed the diverse communities of Moldovans, Armenians, and Jews. Despite natural disasters like earthquakes and fires, and instances of looting, Chi\u0219in\u0103u continued to grow, largely due to its strategic position and strong economic ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a fascinating journey into the city\u2019s past.
