To reduce waste, unplug them or use a power strip with a switch to easily turn off multiple devices at once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimise your water heater.<\/strong> Set the boiler temperature between 30\u00b0C and 50\u00b0C to save up to 15% on costs compared to the standard 60\u00b0C. Lower temperatures also mean you won\u2019t need to mix hot water with cold when showering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use appliances wisely.<\/strong> Run unattended appliances, such as dishwashers and washing machines, at night when energy demand is lower, and imported energy is cheaper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improve home insulation.<\/strong> Properly insulating roofs and walls can reduce heating costs by up to 30%. Homes typically lose heat as follows: 35% through walls, attics, and roofs; 25% through windows and doors; and 15% through floors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lower the heating temperature at night.<\/strong> Reducing the temperature by one or two degrees can cut consumption by up to 10%, save money, and create a healthier sleep environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maximise appliance loads.<\/strong> Fully load your dishwasher or washing machine to reduce the number of cycles. Opt for eco-friendly washing programmes and schedule them for off-peak hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cook efficiently.<\/strong> Did you know using a lid while cooking can save up to three times the energy and reduce your bills? Cover pots and pans to shorten cooking times and cut energy consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Switch to LED bulbs.<\/strong> Replacing a single 60W incandescent bulb with an LED can save up to 340 MDL annually. LEDs use 75% less energy and last significantly longer than traditional bulbs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unplug or switch off devices.<\/strong> Standby devices account for around 10% of operational energy consumption.
