Pupils and teachers from the “Grigore Grigoriu” Theoretical High School in the village of C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni, C\u0103useni district will now have a safer journey on their way to school. The area in front of the high school will be upgraded with the support of the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school, attended by more than 350 students, has not seen any repaires to its schoolyard since the high school was built in 1989. The courtyard in front of the educational institution will be modernized by laying paving stones, landscaping driveways, installing curbs and recreation areas. A ramp will be installed at the main entrance to the school building, thus improving equitable access and inclusivity of the educational institution. . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We run different activities in the courtyard of the high school and its renovation became necessary due to the deteriorated   asphalt, which posed a risk of injury to the children. Our school is attended by children from the locality, but also from other parts of the country, we even have teachers from Tiraspol, Tighina (Bender) specialized in arts such as music theory, music, etc.,” says Natalia Panis, the headmistress of the “Grigore Grigoriu” Theoretical High School with arts profile from the village of C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni, C\u0103useni district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The village of C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni, along with 11 other communities, has been receiving support for sustainable local development since spring 2024. Since then, the formed initiative group has been assisted in identifying, formulating and planning local initiatives. This is how they were able to participate in the competition for the selection of infrastructure projects funded by the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Now that we have been supported and will have funding from the European Union, we are overjoyed. Actually, the whole locality is considered like beneficiaries, especially since we emphasize the conditions for children and it was one of the objects chosen by the whole community when the priority issue was chosen”, says Maria Carau\u0219, president of the AO “Speran\u021ba” from C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the EU financial support, the community of C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni, the contribution of natives from home and abroad will complete the spectrum of infrastructure works, namely the installation of a new fence at the entrance to the schoolyard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When we talk about accessibility, especially to information and services, it is very important for us to be able to raise awareness about the problems that are happening in the community. Every citizen needs to find their voice in community development”, adds Vera Ciuchitu, member of the working group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, in 2016, the “Grigore Grigoriu” Theoretical High School in C\u00eern\u0103\u021beni benefited from another infrastructure project, which included the renovation of the facade and roof of Block A. Also these works were carried out with the support of the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
