The Edinet Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is a 5,85 million EUR flagship investment under the EU4Moldova: Local Communities<\/a> programme. The construction of the Edinet Water Treatment Plant will ensure safe drinking water for approximately 25,800 residents of Edinet Municipality and Cupcini Town.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am happy for the residents of Edine\u021b municipality and the town of Cupcini, who will benefit from clean drinking water once the new water treatment plant is inaugurated. Access to clean water is a fundamental right. Caring for people and respect for all fundamental rights are essential preconditions for accession to the European Union. And Moldova, as I stated earlier, is not alone in this journey. The \u20ac5.8 million that we have allocated for the construction of the water treatment plant is, in fact, an investment in the well-being of 25,800 people”, <\/em>declared J\u0101nis Ma\u017eeiks, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investments include the construction of a new Water Treatment Plant at the existing site of the Pumping Station No. 4, with a production capacity of 5,184 m\u00b3\/day, alongside a new power supply system and the reconstruction of high- and low-voltage electrical installations (10 kV line), as well as the rehabilitation of one of two reservoirs. Additionally, a new intake and raw water pumping station will be built at the Racov\u0103\u021b Reservoir\/B\u0103dragii-Vechi, with a capacity of 90 l\/s and a 1 km pipeline to connect to the existing transmission main pipeline. Finally, the project will upgrade the electro-mechanical components (pumps, electrical control systems) of three intermediate pumping stations to ensure efficient and reliable operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Moldova, Stella Avallone, added<\/strong>: \u201cFor many years, Austria has been a committed partner in strengthening Moldova\u2019s water infrastructure. Through this investment in Edinet and additional efforts in Cupcini and Bratuseni, we are proud to support communities in developing safe, sustainable, and resilient water supply systems that meet the needs of both people and the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These infrastructure investments will provide access to clean water, which remains a significant challenge in Edinet rayon, where outdated infrastructure has long hindered the communities\u2019, inhabitants and businesses, ability to access safe drinking water. Furthermore, the partial decommissioning of old system components will contribute to improving the overall efficiency of the water supply network and marks a first step toward future investments targeting the reduction of real water losses and leakages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Corneliu Cirimpei,<\/strong> stated: \u201cThis project reflects the Government\u2019s strategic priority to modernize Moldova\u2019s water supply and wastewater public services and ensure that citizens across the country have access to clean drinking water. We are grateful to our international partners for making this long-awaited project a reality.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project is funded by the European Union (EU), the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and Republic of Moldova.
