Over 120 young participants of the two ongoing internship programmes, supported by the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, attended the final training session of the summer series focusing on justice field and fiscal reform in alignment with EU standards.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first presentation was delivered by Gabriela Scutea, EU High Level Adviser for Justice and Prosecution. The discussion focused on identifying the principles specific to the areas of policy falling within the EU’s competence and on the checks and balances mechanisms that ensure the sustainability of policy implementation. Practical examples were used to illustrate the interactions between national institutions, either through the filter of constitutional principles or through the filter of the EU’s founding treaties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second part of the session focused on \u201cEU Alignment of Moldova Tax and Customs Regulations: New Perspectives in an Era of Reforms\u201d, presented by Rosario De Blasio, Senior EU Expert in Customs and Tax Policy. Interns learned about practical approaches to harmonizing Moldova\u2019s tax and customs legislation with EU norms, as well as key lessons from EU-supported initiatives aimed at strengthening regulatory alignment and promoting fiscal reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the 2025 edition of the Internship Programme, participants attended eight information sessions covering a wide range of topics, including the reformation of large systems, introduction to public service, challenges of the energy sector, the interaction between Government and Parliament, banking supervision, citizen-centered public policies, public administration reform, professional integrity, cross-sectoral reform coordination, and digital government and innovation. Interns also engaged in informal discussions with EU Ambassadors and senior officials, gaining first-hand insight into the workings of public institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Internship Programme provided participants with practical experience and strengthened their skills in governance, policy-making, and EU integration. Working alongside EU High Level Advisers and national public servants, the interns developed competencies to meaningfully contribute to Moldova\u2019s modernization and European integration efforts. The Programme was first piloted in 2022 as a joint initiative of the European Union Delegation and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, aiming to attract young people to public service and to encourage the return of young talented Moldovans studying abroad. Since its launch in 2022, 17 graduates have joined the civil service, including six who returned to Moldova from abroad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
