Since November this year, the Republic of Moldova became a member of the Convention on the Common Transit Procedure, and the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS) has been integrated into the European customs network, which allows the use of a single declaration during transport through EU member states and the countries that are signatories to the Convention, without repeating customs formalities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefits of the Convention for businesses were discussed at a roundtable with the business community today, organized by the Customs Service and the EU-funded project \u201cMoldova is Europe \u2013 Support for EU Integration\u201d. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Service, the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, the Delegation of the European Union, as well as the Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union of the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions highlighted the direct benefits for exporters, importers and carriers, who will be able to carry out customs formalities with increased efficiency and predictability, and also discussed the next steps for the full implementation of the new procedures that will contribute to the deepening of our country’s integration into the European customs area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership in the Common Transit Convention, as well as the implementation of NCTS, implies<\/p>\n\n\n\n

less bureaucracy;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

faster customs clearance;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

lower costs for businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In practice, this means easier transit for goods; accelerated business growth; completion of declarations in Moldova, with the seal being broken at destination, and reduced controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, 39 states apply this regime, with the Republic of Moldova now benefiting from the same rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
