According to NBM Governor Anca Dragu, the direct savings generated by these transactions amount to approximately <strong>\u20ac1.4 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Republic of Moldova became part of the Single Euro Payments Area on <strong>6 October 2025<\/strong>. By <strong>7 November<\/strong>, SEPA transactions were 25% higher compared with the same period last year. Currently, eight commercial banks in Moldova have officially joined the SEPA system \u2014 a payments infrastructure that brings together 41 European countries and offers citizens and businesses fast, secure euro transfers at low or even zero cost, on the same terms as within the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, mentioned: \u201cWe have more than a month of SEPA operations in the Republic of Moldova. In terms of transaction costs, we paid around <strong>\u20ac78,000<\/strong>. Without SEPA, these costs would have been around <strong>\u20ac1.5 million<\/strong>. In other words, all the people who made payments from Moldova to the 41 SEPA countries and vice versa, have saved over <strong>\u20ac1.4 million<\/strong>. In total, about <strong>\u20ac1.35 billion<\/strong> was transacted. By number of transactions, <strong>55%<\/strong> were made by individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf we look only at fees, this represents an <strong>18-fold<\/strong> reduction.
