It belonged to her grandmother, then her mother, and now it\u2019s part of Ana\u2019s own journey. For her, it\u2019s not just an old machine, it\u2019s a reminder of a dream that started early in life.<em> \u201cSince I was little, I dreamed of becoming a seamstress. My mother had an old sewing machine, and by the fourth grade, I was already making my own skirts\u201d, <\/em>Ana recalls.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Ana, sewing has been a lifelong passion. She learned it naturally, through curiosity, play, and the simple joy of creating. Years later, when she decided to turn her passion into a business, the same challenges many young people from rural areas face: limited financial resources and a lack of entrepreneurial experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen I decided to start my own business, I didn&#8217;t have enough money\u201d,<\/em> she says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The turning point came unexpectedly. At a training session she attended, Ana heard about the \u201cEco-R\u0103zeni\u201d Association and the chance to learn entrepreneurship from scratch. It was the first sign that her dream could actually come to life. \u201cEco-R\u0103zeni\u201d was part of the EU-funded \u201cPersp@ctive\u201d project under the EU4Youth programme, a regional initiative that helps young people find their place in the labor market and start their own businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThat\u2019s how I ended up opening my own workshop\u201d<\/em>, Ana says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A project with a real impact for young people in Moldova and Ukraine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is run by \u201cEco-R\u0103zeni\u201d, in partnership with Moldova\u2019s National Employment Agency (ANOFM), the Austrian organization \u201citworks Personalservice\u201d, and the Ukrainian NGO \u201cNarodna Dopomoha\u201d. It offers hands-on training, guidance, and support to young people who want to build their future using their own skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Dina Turchin, a senior specialist at ANOFM, the project addresses long-standing challenges for young people entering the job market.<strong> <\/strong><em>\u201cThe \u2018Persp@ctive\u2019 project focuses on young people and gives them better access to the labor market. Our goal is to provide career guidance and open new opportunities.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expert also emphasizes another key element:<strong> <\/strong><em>\u201cIt\u2019s about cooperation between the institutions involved. Only by working together can we achieve real results.\u201d <\/em>And the results speak for themselves. More than 200 young people from Ialoveni, H\u00e2nce\u0219ti, Cantemir, Flore\u0219ti, F\u0103le\u0219ti, and UTA G\u0103g\u0103uzia have participated in trainings, company visits, and practical sessions led by trainers from Moldova, Poland, and Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From hobby to your own business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Ana, the courses made all the difference, providing her with practical tools she could use right away.<em>\u201cThe project gave me useful knowledge: how to start and manage a business, how to set a fair price, how to find suppliers, and how to apply for grants\u201d <\/em>she explains. Equally valuable was connecting with peers. <em>\u201cSharing experiences with other participants was extremely helpful\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visiting local companies showed young people what a real workday looks like, and international trainers brought fresh perspectives, aligned with European labor market standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today, her business is open&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Ana runs her business. She repairs car seat covers, reupholsters furniture, creates custom embroidery, and handles clothing alterations. It\u2019s a small but stable business, built step by step, with patience and dedication.<em> \u201cYou can immediately see the difference between those who took these courses and those who didn\u2019t\u201d,<\/em> she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For ANOFM, the project confirmed an important truth, that good results come from collaboration.<em>\u201cWhen agencies work separately, the results are hard to achieve. But when we cooperate and know what each of us is doing, we can truly change lives.\u201d<\/em><strong> <\/strong>The \u201cPersp@ctive\u201d project has shown that investing and the collaboration between EU4Youth, \u201cEco-R\u0103zeni\u201d, and ANOFM in digital and entrepreneurial skills can transform the future of young people who might otherwise remain invisible to the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ana\u2019s message to young people who are still hesitant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ana has a message for young people still uncertain of their future:<strong> <\/strong><em>\u201cStep outside of your comfort zone, don\u2019t be afraid to try, and take part in these projects. That\u2019s where you realize a hobby can turn into a real dream.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her story is just one of many. Hundreds of young people have been given the chance to learn, grow, and shape their future with their own hands. And in Ana\u2019s workshop, that old sewing machine still works, surrounded now by tools, projects, and clients that belong entirely to her. A childhood dream, brought to life with the support of a program that invests in people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cPersp@ctives\u201d project, implemented in Moldova between June 2023 and May 2025, provided practical and theoretical support to young people from six regions \u2013 Ialoveni, H\u00e2nce\u0219ti, Cantemir, Flore\u0219ti, F\u0103le\u0219ti, and UTA G\u0103g\u0103uzia \u2013 to support career development and entrepreneurial skills. The collaboration between ANOFM, local social assistance services, and the project team ensured that each participant received support tailored to their needs. The total budget of the project was 294,000 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The EU4Youth Phase III Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship programme,<\/strong> funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, is being executed by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) in Eastern Partnership countries. These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
