With the support of the European Union and Soros Foundation Moldova, 50 elderly residents of the Care and Assistance Centre for Older Persons \/ “Acas\u0103” Residential Home in the village of B\u0103diceni, as well as the institution’s staff, now benefit from improved living and working conditions following the implementation of the project “Decent Living Conditions through Improving the Energy Efficiency of the Care and Assistance Centre for Older Persons \/ ‘Acas\u0103’ Residential Home in B\u0103diceni.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was implemented by the NGO Casa Speran\u021belor<\/strong> from Soroca and aimed to improve the building’s energy efficiency, enhance residents’ comfort, and reduce the institution’s maintenance costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project included comprehensive energy-efficiency renovation works, such as thermal insulation of the building, fa\u00e7ade renovation, and the installation of four heat recovery ventilation units to ensure efficient ventilation and a healthy indoor climate. The works were carried out between 4 November 2025 and 30 June 2026<\/strong> and will help reduce energy consumption, lower maintenance costs, and improve living conditions for the Centre’s residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the energy-efficiency improvements, the project also focused on enhancing the quality of social services provided by the Centre through the provision of furniture and equipment, staff training, and awareness-raising and community engagement activities promoting responsible energy use. Through the campaign “Consume Less, Live Better! Energy Efficiency Starts with You!”<\/strong>, families in B\u0103diceni commune were encouraged to adopt energy-efficient practices in their own households, contributing to the responsible use of resources and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Energy efficiency in social services means better conditions for people, a safer environment, and the responsible use of resources. At the Care and Assistance Centre for Older Persons \/ ‘Acas\u0103’ Residential Home in B\u0103diceni, these works demonstrate how the partnership between the European Union, civil society, public authorities and institutions working every day with people can support the Republic of Moldova’s European path by providing social services that are closer to the needs of communities, while respecting the dignity of every individual and the values of an open society,” said Daniela Vidaicu<\/strong>, Executive Director of Soros Foundation Moldova.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“This project is, above all, an investment in people and their dignity. Thanks to the support of the European Union and local partners, the 50 residents of the ‘Acas\u0103’ Centre now enjoy better, more comfortable and more energy-efficient living conditions.
