{"id":39353,"date":"2020-07-27T06:52:30","date_gmt":"2020-07-27T06:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/?p=39353"},"modified":"2022-02-01T01:36:10","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T23:36:10","slug":"eu-and-world-health-organization-deliver-critical-supplies-to-fight-covid-19-to-healthcare-institutions-in-minsk-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/en\/eu-and-world-health-organization-deliver-critical-supplies-to-fight-covid-19-to-healthcare-institutions-in-minsk-region\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and World Health Organization deliver critical supplies to fight COVID-19 to healthcare institutions in Minsk region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mobility &amp; people-to-people contacts<\/li>\n<li>Health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Personal protective equipment (PPE) purchased by the World Health Organization (WHO) with European Union funding was delivered to the Minsk region on 13 July, providing healthcare facilities in the region with 455,500 units of PPE, including 300,000 medical masks, 133,000 respirators, 6,000 pairs of goggles, 6,000 face shields and 10,500 medical gowns.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The PPE is part of a shipment of 3.6 million units that arrived in Belarus in late June and has been distributed across the regions of Belarus.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Speaking at the handover ceremony, EU Ambassador Dirk Schuebel said: &#8220;Today we are taking another joint step in our fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. The European Union, in partnership with the World Health Organization, is addressing these issues. Personal protective equipment will be provided to all Eastern Partnership countries \u2013 Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. We also provide expertise and advice to our neighboring countries. We and our partners are here to help the Belarusian national healthcare system in this difficult period.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The supply of personal protective equipment is part of a broader package of assistance from the WHO and the EU to prevent, detect and respond to the COVID-19 crisis. Over the next two years, the WHO and the EU will continue to support Belarus in building the country&#8217;s capacity to respond to public health emergencies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><strong>Find
