{"id":39359,"date":"2020-07-27T06:52:38","date_gmt":"2020-07-27T06:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/?p=39359"},"modified":"2022-02-01T01:36:10","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T23:36:10","slug":"artificial-intelligence-in-support-of-social-distancing-chatbot-comes-to-the-rescue-of-residents-and-businesses-in-rustavi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/en\/artificial-intelligence-in-support-of-social-distancing-chatbot-comes-to-the-rescue-of-residents-and-businesses-in-rustavi\/","title":{"rendered":"Artificial intelligence in support of social distancing: ChatBot comes to the rescue of residents and businesses in Rustavi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economic development &amp; market opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Economy and trade<\/li>\n<li>Employment and entrepreneurship<\/li>\n<li>Mobility &amp; people-to-people contacts<\/li>\n<li>Research &amp; Innovation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Artificial intelligence has come to the support of businesses and the more than 125,000 residents of Rustavi in Georgia, by keeping them informed about city services, new regulations, and steps to take to cope with coronavirus challenges without leaving their homes, as part of an initiative developed with the support of the European Union.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>C Bot is a Rustavi City Hall ChatBot, developed by the Rustavi Innovations Hub and Rustavi Municipality with the support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ge.undp.org\/\">UNDP Georgia<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.m4eg.eu\/en\/\">Mayors for Economic Growth<\/a> initiative implemented under the EU4Business umbrella. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>This innovative tool, unique in Georgia\u2019s public sector, handles more than 1,000 questions on coronavirus statistics and recommendations, as well as questions about municipal services such as public information, social programmes, architectural services, and more.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u201cC Bot simplifies the dialogue between the city and those starting a business and going through various procedures, including registration and construction\u00a0permits,\u201d\u00a0explains\u00a0Revaz Barbakadze, chairman of the Rustavi Innovations Hub.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Rustavi, joined the Mayors for Economic Growth initiative\u00a0in 2017.\u00a0Helping the city become an active facilitator of economic growth and job creation at the local level, the initiative encouraged public servants to put together a local economic development plan.\u00a0In the same period, Rustavi City Hall partnered with UNDP Georgia to foster innovation at the local governance level.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u201cRegular mentoring, expert involvement, knowledge exchange sessions, and events within M4EG were an invaluable experience for our team to identify gaps for advancement, including a more business-friendly environment in the city,\u201d\u00a0says\u00a0Revaz Barbakadze,\u00a0local economic development\u00a0officer at City Hall.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>When discussing flexible and resident-oriented advancements about a year ago, the team agreed that individuals and businesses undoubtedly spent extra time and resources visiting City Hall for assistance that could be provided at a distance. The idea of an AI-based system providing guidance to municipal services online was kicked off in November 2019, with support from UNDP.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>C Bot was\u00a0about to launch\u00a0in March when\u00a0the pandemic hit. It was immediately\u00a0updated\u00a0with COVID-related information, including services for individuals to get assistance and recommendations for businesses to continue normal operations, and eventually\u00a0launched in April.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>A business accelerator project promoting locally-inspired solutions is also\u00a0on its way. With the support from UNDP, a co-working space with trainers, mentors and equipment should stimulate the development of business ideas. With the involvement of local and international business organisations, the Youth Entrepreneurship Ecosystem will enable young people to turn an idea into an actual business and even get funding.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><strong>Find
