The survey was conducted by the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) and the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine), as part of the \u2018Buckle Up \u2013 Don\u2019t Get Terrified\u2019 road traffic safety campaign.<\/p>\n<p>For 30% of respondents, only fines over 1,000 hryvnia would motivate them to care about their safety while riding in the car. A third of these (10%) would change habits if the fine was between 1,000-1,500 hryvnia, and the remaining 20% \u2013 if they were forced to pay 1,500-2,000 hryvnia.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Photo: European Union\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"4b0199b7-bd59-436c-85b4-5a35f59be487\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/Buckle-up-RTS-campaign_infographics_fines_eng-1536x1536_0.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>In the same survey, 82% of respondents said they buckled up occasionally in the front seat, and only 52% always did so during every ride. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>T<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>he most severe negligence was among the back-seat passengers: only 12% have made it their habit to fasten their seatbelts every time.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Since 13 March 2021, fines for <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span><span>failing to use <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>seatbelts <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span><span>have <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>increased tenfold <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>(t<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>o 510<\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span> hryvnia \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span> just over <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>\u20ac<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>15)<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span> in an effort <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>to <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span><span>increase <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>the share of drivers and passengers buckling up every time they ride<\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span>As part of its <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>\u2018Buckle Up \u2013 Don\u2019t Get Terrified\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span> campaign, which will last until the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span>mid-May, N<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span><span><span>P<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span>U will use popular horror film tropes, install collision simulators in accident-themed demo zones open to the public, and guide and offer advice to motorists on the road and in shopping mall parkings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"
