{"id":61107,"date":"2021-05-13T09:14:34","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T09:14:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/?p=61107"},"modified":"2022-02-01T01:54:59","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T23:54:59","slug":"eurobarometer-eu-citizens-strongly-support-cooperating-with-partner-countries-and-youth-to-reduce-poverty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eu4moldova.eu\/en\/eurobarometer-eu-citizens-strongly-support-cooperating-with-partner-countries-and-youth-to-reduce-poverty\/","title":{"rendered":"Eurobarometer: EU citizens strongly support cooperating with partner countries and youth to reduce poverty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economic development &amp; market opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening Institutions &amp; good governance<\/li>\n<li>Governance, rule of law and human rights<\/li>\n<li>Connectivity, energy efficiency, environment and climate change<\/li>\n<li>Environment &amp; climate change<\/li>\n<li>Mobility &amp; people-to-people contacts<\/li>\n<li>Youth<\/li>\n<li>Health<\/li>\n<li>Economic and social cooperation<\/li>\n<li>Energy, transport and environment<\/li>\n<li>Environment &amp; climate change<\/li>\n<li>Political and security dialogue<\/li>\n<li>Governance, rule of law and human rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest <strong>Eurobarometer survey on development cooperation<\/strong> shows that <strong>almost nine in ten EU citizens say it is important to partner with countries outside the EU to reduce poverty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The global pandemic has not shaken citizens&#8217; support for the EU&#8217;s work in international development and the results confirm a solid trend over recent years, meaning <strong>cooperation with partner countries remains one of the most positively perceived EU policies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the results, Commissioner for International Partnerships, <strong>Jutta Urpilainen<\/strong>, said:\u201c<em>I am happy to see these very positive results reflecting the best of Europe&#8217;s values: a spirit of global solidarity even when times are tough<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the key findings from the survey is the increased concern about <strong>health<\/strong>, that has been identified as the most pressing challenge for the future of developing countries by 36%, 5 points more than in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>EU citizens overwhelmingly agree (<strong>88%<\/strong>) that <strong>the EU should tackle climate change and its effects in developing countries<\/strong>, whilst <strong>77%<\/strong> strongly agree that <strong>tackling poverty in developing countries should be one of the main priorities of the EU<\/strong> and <strong>61%<\/strong> say that <strong>EU development policy should also focus on reducing inequalities in developing countries<\/strong>. About a third of respondents (34%) think that EU development policy should only focus on helping developing countries to strengthen their economies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read
