They discussed the possibilities of further enhanced cooperation between the EU and the three associated partners.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks following the meeting, Borrell noted that <em>\u201cthis year is an important year for the Eastern Partnership. Together with the Commission, we are in the process of finalising the post-2020 agenda, which contains concrete deliverables and targets\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>Borrell also <\/span><\/span><span><span>welcome<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>d<\/span><\/span><span><span> the closer coordination between Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as their request for enhanced cooperation with the European Union. <em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><\/span><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>We<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span> should be proud that our partners want to move closer the European Union, and even to join it<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span>,<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><span><span> said Borrell.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>EU High Representative<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>also reminded that <\/span><\/span><span><span>Association Agreements, including Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>, <\/span><\/span><span><span>are the most comprehensive that the <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>EU<\/span><\/span><span><span> has with any of its partners. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span>The full implementation of these agreements is key to exploit all the opportunities they offer, for example further trade exchanges, more security cooperation <\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>\u2013<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span> and today especially in the new fields of disinformation, cyber and hybrid threats <\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>\u2013<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span> on environment, and connectivity<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>,\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span> Borrell said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\">Borrell reiterated that the<\/span><span><span> Eastern Partnership summit<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>, which<\/span><\/span><span><span> will take place in December<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>, <\/span><\/span><span><span>wi<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>ll be<\/span><\/span> <em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span>an opportunity to set <\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-GB\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><span>this <\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span>new agenda in motion, and to agree on a common vision for the future<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\"><span>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><span><span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><strong>Find out more<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/eeas.europa.eu\/headquarters\/headquarters-homepage\/100628\/eastern-partnership-remarks-high-representativevice-president-josep-borrell-following-meeting_en\">Press release<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cross-cutting areas Economic development &amp;
