On the 25th of February 2020<\/strong>, at the National Bureau of Statistics premises in Chisinau took place the first Steering Committee of the EU funded project \u201cTechnical Assistance to Support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova\u201d (ParStat project).<\/p>\n

Experts from the National Bureau of Statistics and from the Technical Assistance Project summarised the main achievements and outputs of the activities already implemented and presented the activities planned for the net months.<\/p>\n

The Steering Committee members include\u00a0representatives from the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, the Public Services Agency, the Ministry of Finance, the European Union Delegation to Moldova and representatives from the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and the National Institute of Statistics of Poland (GUS).<\/p>\n

The main objectives of the ParStat project are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. to strengthen the National Bureau of Statistics\u2019 coordinating role of the National Statistical System and its capacity to access and use administrative registers and other data sources of Moldovan institutions for statistical purposes, aiming at enhancing public trust, high quality and accurateness of data provided and processed;<\/li>\n
  2. to promote harmonisation of statistics in line with the EU and international standards, by enabling the efficient and effective production, analysis and dissemination of official statistics, following best practices as implemented in the European Statistical System by adopting new technologies and methods for data collection and
