Thanks to EU support and the initiative ‘Covenant of Mayors East’, the citizens of the small village of Feștelița, Republic of Moldova, will benefit from a park equipped with solar panels with a capacity of 300 kW. The solar energy collected from the park will be sold for additional revenues to support the local budget.
The project also plans to install biomass-fuelled boiler rooms (in a preschool, a secondary school, a cultural centre and the Town Hall), plant at least 4 ha of poplar and willow trees (for biomass production), and install 200 environmentally friendly streetlights. As a result, energy consumption will decrease by 37% and CO2 emissions will drop by 48%.
