The EU Delegation to Ukraine and the Ukrainian Institute, a public institution affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, have jointly launched the Alteration Programme, a series of online events for professionals in the cultural field.

The programme is supported via the EU-funded Cultural Relations Platform.

The Alteration programme will define new approaches to establishing, building and developing intercultural relations and connections between EU and Ukrainian cultural and civil society actors, despite the pandemic. The action will focus on how to promote cultural initiatives and products using digital tools.

The Programme consists of a series of online events for professionals in the cultural field – literature (5-7 May), civil society (17-18 May), music (27-28 May), performing arts (10-11 June), and visual arts (17-18 June) – with a kick-off online conference ‘The New Normal of Cultural Relations’, planned for 29 April. The closing event will take place on 8 July.

“The Alteration programme is another initiative of the European Union in Ukraine aimed to assist culture and creative sectors operators to recover after the COVID-19 crisis, to restore their links with European peers, and to incorporate best practices of survival and development in the conditions of the ‘new normal’, said Xavier Camus, acting Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.

As a result of the programme, the Ukrainian Institute will publish a handbook with best practices from the EU and Ukraine to demonstrate new formats, approaches and instruments used by cultural and civil society institutions in 2020-2021.
