In recent years, the startup ecosystem in Moldova has experienced a remarkable evolution, stimulated innovation and having a significant impact on the national economy. For example, 2024 marked an impressive performance for Moldovan startups, which attracted record funding of €7.3 million — double the previous year.

Our country can be proud of successful startups, which have not only turned their innovative ideas into functional businesses, but have managed to develop them nationally and internationally, and their founders will be present at Startup Moldova Summit. They include:

Planable — a collaborative platform for marketing teams that specializes in managing and reviewing content for social media. The platform is used by more than 10,000 creators behind iconic brands such as Hyundai, Christian Louboutin, Viber and United Nations. 

Parkopedia — a global connected car service platform specializing in parking, EV charging, fuel and tolls. It was founded in 2007 and has since expanded its services to include integrated payment options, now covering over 90 countries. 

Bloomcoding — a Moldova-based edTech company offering online coding courses for kids using AR and VR technologies, which in 2023 raised €1 million from Credo Ventures in Prague, Inovo VC in Warsaw and Genesis Ventures in Ukraine.

Fagura — an innovative crowdfunding platform connecting investors and borrowers. It was launched in the Republic of Moldova and has now expanded to Romania. In 2024, the fintech secured a €250,000 investment from U.Ventures, a US venture capital fund active in the region.

Startup Moldova Summit 2025 Agenda

The most awaited event dedicated to startups will be attended by high-ranking officials, investors, development partners, business people, enthusiasts and all those interested in innovation.

On the agenda are guests such as Sijue Zhao, Senior Strategy Manager at Booking, headquartered in Amsterdam, who will give a presentation on the future of technology in travel (Travel Tech) and how technological innovations will revolutionize the travel industry and transform travelers’ experiences.

Fonz Morris, from self-taught designer to Lead Product Designer at Netflix, entrepreneur and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, will be another valuable speaker at the event. He will share his experience of shaping the digital world and opening new opportunities for the next generation. Fonz has contributed significantly to Coursera’s success, helping the company reach 20 million users and go public. 

With fresh insight into the challenges and opportunities for expanding into new markets for EdTech products will come Irakli Vekua, CEO and founder of Kings Olympiads. With extensive experience in digital educational business development, Irakli will present his company’s «Teacher-First» growth strategy and how he has been able to transform academic competitions globally, moving from the traditional paper-based format to digital competitions. 

The future of startups in Moldova

The Summit will focus on startup funding, technology support and the impact of these initiatives on the economy, including as Moldova prepares for investment through the €1.9 billion EU Growth Plan, supporting innovation, digitization and startups. 

On the other hand, Moldovan entrepreneurs and startups will have access to European support through projects such as EU4Innovation East, which will support over the next four years the strengthening of the Moldovan startup and innovation ecosystem through technological development, incubation and internationalization. 

And with the signing of the Association Agreement for the Digital Europe Programme, Moldova will benefit from expanded funding opportunities for digitalization. The programme supports entrepreneurs, startups, local governments, NGOs and citizens by giving them access to funds for technology development, acceleration and internationalization. The total budget of €7.5 billion is available for all participating countries until 2027.
