EU support project for local media in the Republic of Moldova

EU SUPPORT PROJECT FOR LOCAL MEDIA IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA TO BE IMPLEMENTED BY THE SLOVAK AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION

The dedicated project for EU support of regional media in the country was agreed between the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova and the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation

In the context of increased need of support expressed by local media in the Republic of Moldova, the European Union will be providing dedicated support to regional media outlets in the country, via a project that will be implemented in cooperation with the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation, an EU Member State agency.

The scope of the project is to ensure relevant assistance to local media, from the perspective of content creation, the development of business skills, as well as expert support for the improvement of sustainability actions. In addition to this, the project will also target support to starts-ups in the sector.

The signature event took place at Europe Café premises, with the participation of EU Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova and a delegation of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC). For SAIDC, this represents a pilot project of this nature in the country, as the as a Lead Partner in the Delegated Cooperation Project.

The European Union and its Member States, as Team Europe, continue to remain close to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, by providing dedicated support to various sectors, the media one being an important tool for democratic reforms and awareness raising on key aspects related to the life of the citizens.
