The Bratușeni Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture Economics College has completed a comprehensive modernization under the EU4Moldova: Local Communities programme, supported by the European Union and the Austrian Government and implemented with the assistance of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

The EUR 325,000 investment upgraded infrastructure, improved energy efficiency, supplied modern equipment and learning materials, strengthened digital systems, and delivered targeted capacity building for staff and students.

The projects strategically target the most pressing needs of the VET institution, ensuring meaningful and lasting improvements.

  • The college’s infrastructure has been revitalized, with upgraded sanitary facilities, repaired dormitory and teaching block roofs, restoration of moisture-damaged walls, and the installation of solar panels to boost energy efficiency.
  • State-of-the-art equipment to enrich hands-on training experiences, including interactive boards, laptops, projectors, and printers, has been donated, along with grooming tools and sanitation supplies.
  • Capacity building initiatives have empowered administrators with efficient management skills, equipped teachers with digital pedagogy and innovative teaching methods, and prepared students with essential 21st-century skills.
  • VET systemic support included: development of the Teacher’s Electronic Register and Student’s Electronic Agenda on the Education Management Information System or the VET system.

More than 450 students and staff from Bratuseni College are directly benefiting from these projects. As a result, the college of Bratuseni now offers a modernized, more sustainable environment for education and vocational training, better preparing students for careers that meet labor market demands.

Liudmila Stihi, Moldova’s State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, expressed her appreciation for the partnership established through the EU4Moldova: Local Communities programme, the success of its interventions, and the support given to strengthen the VET system. “For the Ministry of Education and Research, supporting and strengthening the VET system continues to be a national priority in order to train high-quality specialists,” added the State Secretary.

Ilona Gruenewald, Programme manager for Agriculture and Rural development, Food safety, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova mentioned: “We confirm EU’s strong support for modernizing Moldova’s Vocational Education system. Equipping schools with modern infrastructure and learning materials, we contribute to quality vocational education, technical education as well as lifelong learning opportunities that meet the demands of today’s labour market. It allows student and teachers to develop professionally and ensure a harmonious fit in the workplace and ever-changing life and business environment.”

Birgit Bichler, Programme Manager for EU-funded projects in Moldova, Austrian Development Agency, declared: ”Austria’s ongoing involvement in VET projects extends beyond current investments.
