EU-funded EU4Borders Security project launched in Moldova
On 22 January, the ‘EU4Borders Security – Moldova’ project, funded by the European Union, was launched by the Border Police and a consortium formed between the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA), the Solidarity Fund PL and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Moldova.
The project will support the Government of the Republic of Moldova in aligning border and migration management with European Union standards and the Schengen acquis, contributing to preparations for EU accession and the creation of a border system that is more resilient to current security challenges.
“These efforts are important steps towards a secure and modern European border, in line with the provisions of Chapter 24 ‘Justice, Freedom and Security’ of the European Union accession process,” said the EU Delegation to Moldova in a press release.
On the same day, the project’s Steering Committee held its first meeting. The participants – national authorities and international partners – established the key directions for the implementation and coordination of planned activities.
