European Union and SFPL in Moldova equip IPAS with modern drones for special missions
The Internal Protection and Anti-Corruption Service (IPAS) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received two state-of-the-art drones worth over 430,000 MDL. These devices will strengthen IPAS’s operational activities and special missions aimed at enhancing internal security and institutional integrity. The donation was made under the project “EU4Moldova Resilience: Secure State, Resilient Communities”, funded by the European Union and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova.
The two drones are equipped with extended flight autonomy, high-resolution cameras, and thermal sensors, making them suitable for complex aerial surveillance, documentation, and rapid intervention missions, including at night or in challenging conditions.
“In the medium and long term, integrating drones will significantly increase operational efficiency, enabling faster and more successful investigations, particularly in cases requiring extensive surveillance or detailed visual documentation. This new equipment represents a strategic investment, aligned with modern trends in special investigations and with the current needs of the service, opening new perspectives for future activities,” said Dorin Vrednic, Head of IPAS.
With financial support from the European Union, Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova will continue equipping institutions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. By November 2025, more than 1,750 protective and rapid intervention equipment items will be provided to institutions responsible for civil protection and national security.
“These drones will support the Internal Protection and Anti-Corruption Service in monitoring hard-to-access areas, documenting illegal activities, and in actions to prevent and combat corruption and other threats to internal security. Through this donation, the EU4Moldova Resilience project reaffirms our commitment to supporting the Republic of Moldova in modernizing and strengthening its security institutions, in this way contributing to greater state resilience and citizen protection,” said Nicolae Soloviov, Project Manager.
The project “EU4Moldova Resilience: Secure State, Resilient Communities”, funded by the European Union and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, has a total budget of €9.5 million. The initiative helps the Republic of Moldova strengthen its ability to respond to national security challenges while supporting European integration through the development of resilient communities and a safer environment for citizens.
