15/07/2025

An event dedicated to promoting free and fair elections took place at Europe Café, organized by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) in partnership with ERIM, through the ProElect project funded by the European Union. The event brought together representatives of civil society organizations and media outlets from five rural communities in Moldova.

The aim of the project is to strengthen civic engagement in the electoral process and to prevent electoral fraud through active and responsible monitoring at the local level. During the event, participants took part in training sessions led by experts from the Center for Continuous Electoral Training (CICDE), the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), TVR Moldova, and Promo-LEX, covering topics such as the role of the media in election coverage, the responsibilities of civil society, and the detection and reporting of irregularities.

A central component of the project is the creation of five electoral observation labs in the partner communities, which will monitor the electoral processes and help increase transparency and public accountability.

The event concluded with a Q&A and discussion on next steps, where participants reiterated their commitment to promoting electoral integrity and active citizen participation in the 2025 elections.
