Between 28–31 August, the Orthodox Youth Gathering took place in Cahul. More than 235 young men and women from the Republic of Moldova and Romania came together to share experiences and promote fellowship and mutual respect.

Over four days, participants engaged in spiritual, cultural, artistic, and educational activities. Topics discussed included the promotion of gender equality and the fight against harmful stereotypes.

On the second day of the camp, several priests from the Metropolis of Bessarabia organized thematic workshops for participants, such as: “Family – God’s Gift,” “The Values of a Healthy Family: How to Choose and Preserve Them,” and “Equality and Respect: The Foundation of a Successful Marriage.” Discussions with the youth also focused on promoting the Christian model of healthy and harmonious relationships, the role of the Church in family counseling, and education for the prevention of violence. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in civic life and to contribute to building family relationships based on respect, responsibility, and mutual support. Representatives of local authorities and academia also attended the event.

The activity was organized within the framework of the program “Together Against Gender Stereotypes and Gender-Based Violence” (Phase II), funded by the European Union and jointly implemented by UN Women Moldova and UNFPA. Responsibility for the program’s content lies with the Social Mission “Diaconia.”
