Discover art in a new way through an extensive exhibition of artists from Moldova, celebrating authenticity, diversity, and innovation. We periodically renew Cartego’s painting collections, featuring new works by local painters. Join us in exploring these artworks at the main information center of the European Union in Chisinau, open Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Access is free. Each collection includes over 20 paintings by local artists, available for purchase directly from the creators. Through this initiative, we aim to support local culture and ensure that these talented painters receive the recognition they deserve.

Cartego is a unique bookstore and art gallery located in the center of Chisinau. Over the years, Cartego has evolved into a vibrant cultural center, promoting a network of contemporary Moldovan artists and organising various exhibitions that have turned the bookstore into a true art gallery. As strong supporters of local talent, Cartego has played a crucial role in promoting contemporary Moldovan art and serves as a platform for creative individuals, nurturing a genuine community of artists.

In September 2023, Cartego partnered with Europe Café for a groundbreaking first art exhibition. The event showcased 14 unique works, offering Europe Café guests an immersive experience that blended real paintings with captivating AI-generated effects. This innovative exhibition not only celebrated Moldova’s vibrant local culture, but also highlighted the powerful role of art and the country’s connection with shared European values.

Originally founded as a bookstore, Cartego expanded into an art gallery within a year. Since then, it has organised more than 30 exhibitions, presenting the works of artists who have also exhibited in EU states, including art galleries and European institutions.

In order to give a wider audience the chance to discover local painters, Cartego painting exhibitions are also accessible to Europe Café visitors.
