European Union

We’re bringing the authentic workings of the European Union to Moldova, offering young enthusiasts a chance to immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of the EU’s vital institutions. Gain insights into the structural, organisational, ideological, and political dimensions guiding policy decisions in Brussels.

Model EU is organised with the financial support of the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, within the “EU4Youth:Youth Engagement and Empowerment” program, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation, in collaboration with the EU NEIGHBOURS east program, the National Youth Council of Moldova and Europe Café.

When and

Model European Union Moldova will take place from 12 to 14 April, concluding with a two-day simulation of the EU negotiating and decision-making processes at the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Participants will benefit from dedicated workshops focused on decision-making, debate techniques, and public speaking skills, as well as workshops on the debated topics and knowledge about the EU institutions. Model EU aligns with the European Youth Week 2024, organised by the European Commission to promote youth engagement, participation, and active citizenship.

Your key roles in
shaping European

At Model EU Moldova, you won’t just observe – you’ll actively participate. Each participant becomes a representative of the citizens from an EU Member State, and a political party and holds a stance on the topic under discussion. Dive into debates, suggest amendments, and cast your vote to shape the final resolution. This simulation goes beyond the surface, fostering critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, and strategic planning. It mirrors the real-world challenges faced by EU policymakers.

By embodying roles like Member of the European Parliament and journalist, you’ll not only build a network but also develop a profound understanding of European values, gaining firsthand insights into the operations of major European institutions through direct participation in the EU legislative procedure.

Who can apply?

Young individuals from Moldova, aged 16-25, interested in
learning about the workings of European Union institutions.
No specialised knowledge or studies in European affairs,
European studies, law, political science, international
relations, or similar fields are required.
