Media representatives, civil society organisations, and national institutions from Estonia, Armenia, Georgia, Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova gathered for the International Conference on Information Literacy and Media Self-Regulation.

Participants discussed pressing issues such as media integrity, media education, the dissemination of accurate public information, and strategies to combat the growing wave of disinformation.

During the conference, the European Union honoured four media outlets and civil society organisations for their exceptional contributions over the past year in promoting media literacy and fighting disinformation. The awards were presented in the following categories:

  • “Mass Media Against Disinformation” – awarded to the CU SENS editorial office
  • “Information and Media Literacy” – awarded to the Association of Librarians from the Republic of Moldova
  • “Civil Society Against Disinformation” – awarded to the Media Center for Youth
  • “Projects Against Disinformation” – awarded to NewsMaker for the #riltok project

In the previous year, the EU recognized Ziarul de Gardă, API (Association of Independent Press), the Center for Independent Journalism, and Watchdog.md for their work.

The event was organised by International Media Support with the support of the European Union, the Soros Moldova Foundation, and the Center for Independent Journalism.
