An open lesson on the history of Chișinău at Europe Café

Did you know that much of historic Chișinău is located in the old Buiucani district? Interestingly, the name of Moldova’s capital could have been different, but history took an unexpected turn.

We discovered many more fascinating details about the origins and development of Chișinău last night during an open lesson led by Sergius Ciocanu, organised by A.O. Save Chișinău.

Sergius Ciocanu, a Doctor of Architecture, researcher, and author of several works on the city’s historical and architectural evolution, shared his insights with the audience.

This event marked the first in a series of four under the “City of Chișinău: Urban Evolution and Cultural Heritage” project, funded by the Ministry of Culture through the “Cultural Projects Competition 2024” programme.
