
A business development centre was inaugurated in Crihana Veche with the support of the EU and UNDP Moldova
A modern space for business development and attracting investments was inaugurated on Friday, 21 February in Crihana Veche village in Cahul district. The space, with an area of over 1400 square meters, already hosts two businesses, and other investors will be attracted in the future. The Business Development Centre in Crihana Veche was modernised and renovated with the support of the “EU4Moldova: Focal Regions”, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF, worth €600,000 (including local contribution).
“The Business Development Centre in Crihana Veche is a modern and functional space, providing valuable opportunities for investors from various sectors and supporting local business growth. We aim to stimulate the business environment and contribute to job creation in Crihana Veche, Cahul region, by identifying optimal solutions for the development of the entrepreneurial community,” said Igor Miclauș, Mayor of Crihana Veche village, Cahul district.
The construction works included renovation of the building, reparation of the roof, modernisation of the water supply and sewage networks, building of a segment of road connecting to the national route R-34, development of an area for road access and a parking lot, installing lighting systems on the entire site of the unit, landscaping green spaces, etc.
Currently, the Centre hosts two residents, who have created 10 new jobs for the inhabitants of Crihana Veche, and the activity of these companies will contribute more than MDL 650,000 annually to the local budget, representing about 10% of the local budget revenues.

The modernized infrastructure of the three-stored Centre for Business Development in Crihana Veche could benefit not only Crihana Veche, but also the neighboring areas, including Cahul municipality.
The programme “EU4Moldova: Focal Regions” will continue to support Crihana Veche in attracting new investors. The objective is to attract at least three additional companies and create 40 new jobs, thus strengthening the economic impact of the Business Center on the region. The “EU4Moldova: Focal regions” Programme (2019-2025) supports intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social-economic development in the regions of Cahul and Ungheni to ensure better standards of living to the citizens. The programme has a total budget of EUR 23 million, is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
