A new mandate for the EU-funded project “Covenant of Mayors East”

The European Commission has entrusted the CoM-East project team led by the Association of European Local Authorities “Energy Cities” in partnership with organisations from Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan a new mandate to lead the secretariat for the Covenant of Mayors in the Eastern Partnership countries for the next four years. 

The aim of the project is to support local public authorities – the signatories of the Covenant of Mayors in their efforts to implement their commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their territory, (2) increase resilience and prepare for the adverse impacts of climate change, and (3) address energy poverty as a key action in the situation of increasing prices for energy resources. 

For the Republic of Moldova, AO AEER (Alliance for Energy Efficiency and Renewables) will serve as a contact point and support structure providing tailored assistance for the Local Public Authorities in regard to the development and implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans, networking and cooperation, exchange of experience, capacity building on various topics (ex. climate change mitigation, adaptation, energy poverty, multilevel governance, fundraising and funding instruments), communication, dissemination and promotion of best practices and Project results.
