Civil society from Republic of Moldova supports public local authorities to develop social services

In November, within the project “Better social services through a sustainable partnership between the civil society and the government” were offered seven vehicles for the development of social services in seven rayons from Moldova, worth 75,500 EURO.

Five vehicles were purchased for civil society organizations from Taraclia, Cantemir, Glodeni, Leova and Dondușeni, that develop Mobile Team services; a service that offers social assistance and home support to persons with severe disabilities and their families. A vehicle was offered to Christian Foundation “Titus” from Telenești that expands the services offered by the day center “Diamant” for children from vulnerable groups. A minibus was purchased for the development of the “Social care” service from Ungheni rayon; the minibus will be used to transport to a specialized center persons with disabilities, homeless and elderly people who do not have good conditions at home.

“European Union supports the initiatives of civil society from Republic of Moldova to create, develop and manage sustainable social services for persons with disabilities. For thousands of citizens, the existence and sustainability of these services means more opportunities for a fulfilled life in the community”, stated Peter Michalko, UE Ambassador in Republic of Moldova.

Also, children with severe disabilities from Leova rayon have access to the first sensory room from the south of Moldova. CSO ”Forța susținerii” launched the “Magic maze”, that represents a space provided with sensory equipment that allows the psychopedagogues to perform activities in order to stimulate the senses of children with severe disabilities. All the children on record at the Psycho-pedagogical Assistance Service from Leova, and their families, can have access to the sensory room, according to their Individualized Educational Plan. 

In November as well, CSO “Speranța” from Cinișeuți, Rezina rayon, launched a playground and sports ground. 600 children from Cinișeuți village, including children with special educational needs, with disabilities and Roma children, have access to sport and cultural activities. Through diversifying of socio-educational, cultural and sports services, organization aims to increase the level of school integration and social inclusion of children and young people from vulnerable groups.  

The Project “Better social services through a sustainable partnership between the civil society and the government” is financed by European Union, co-financed and implemented by Soros-Moldova Foundation in partnership with  Keystone Moldova, Alliance of Active NGOs in the field of Child and Family Social Protection and Alliance of Organizations for the Persons with Disabilities from the Republic of Moldova.

  7. Christian Foundation “Titus”, for expanding the services offered by the day center “Diamant” for children from vulnerable groups from Telenești rayon.
