The European Union supports youth initiatives in Moldova
The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, joined the participants of the “Moldova Youth Forum 2025” on August 28, 2025 – an event that brought together over 400 young people from across the country in Chișinău.
The forum gathered young people actively involved in their communities and inspiring change.
Together with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, EU Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks discussed with the participants the historic opportunity for the Republic of Moldova to become part of the European Union and the decisive role young people play in this journey.

“We spoke about what democracy means to each of us, what happens when we lose it, and how we can educate young people to value and protect it. It is important to have real democratic exercises already at school, university, and in communities – so that young people get used to participating in decision-making processes and understand the importance of their involvement,” emphasized President Maia Sandu.
Moldova Youth Forum is one of the most important national platforms dedicated to young leaders in the Republic of Moldova. Launched in 2022, the forum has succeeded in creating an open space for dialogue, innovation, and active participation, bringing together youth from all regions of the country to discuss key topics regarding the future of the Republic of Moldova.

Each edition has connected the young generation with decision-makers, experts, and international partners. This year’s agenda included plenary sessions, thematic discussions, and workshops on major topics of interest to young people – from civic participation and education to European integration, leadership, and combating disinformation.
