Commission conducts webinar to boost EU-Eastern Partnership Research and Innovation Cooperation

The European Commission, in cooperation with the implementing partner Global Service Facility, recently organised a webinar for policy makers, researchers and innovators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The goal of the webinar, held on 19 March, was to boost the participation of these Eastern Partnership Partner countries in Horizon Europe, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Over 180 participants participated from universities, research centres, and innovative startups, in addition to other R&I actors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, alongside R&I stakeholders from EU Member States.

The webinar presented the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026-2027, with a focus on funding opportunities relevant for the EaP Partner countries. It also highlighted thematic areas and funding instruments of particular strategic importance for the region, for example Artificial Intelligence in science.

During the event, specific R&I funding opportunities for Ukraine in the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027 were presented.

The webinar also introduced the European Innovation Council (EIC) Work Programme 2026, with emphasis on instruments accessible to widening countries.

The event also aimed to facilitate exchanges and networking among R&I stakeholders from the EaP region and EU Member States.
