In Telenești, an EU investment of 570,000 euros has reduced the energy consumption of the district policlinic and will save over 1.5 million lei annually. The invested money funded the thermal rehabilitation of the building. The Telenești Policlinic – lower consumption, higher savings
The district policlinic was thermally insulated, received a new roof, modern doors and windows, and a 50 kW photovoltaic system. The total investment is 570,000 euros, including a 185,000-euro grant from the E5P fund, contributed by the European Union. The works will reduce thermal energy consumption by 55% and electricity consumption by 63%.
Two nurseries in district villages
Over the next two years, two nursery groups will open in the Telenești district: in Bănești and Sărătenii Vechi. They are two of the 99 kindergartens that will feature nurseries—an initiative involving investments of about 340 million lei nationwide. The financial resources are allocated by the European Union for the years 2025–2027 through the Republic of Moldova Growth Plan.
Warmer homes, lower bills
Through the FEERM program, rural families benefit from home thermal insulation and more efficient heating systems. In the case of a family with four children in the district, firewood expenses dropped almost fourfold—from 20,000–25,000 to approximately 6,000–7,000 lei per season.
Community center for the elderly
The modern space dedicated to activities for the 1,570 seniors in Sărătenii Vechi, Telenești district, received an EU grant worth 87,750 euros through the Energy Efficiency program. Thanks to European support, the community center is undergoing roof-slab thermal insulation, metal staircase installation, and related works. Thus, the building will become even more comfortable for its beneficiaries.
Artistic handicraft in Telenești
Marina Scripcaraș from Ratuș, Telenești district, spent several years in Great Britain running her own cleaning business, but after the outbreak of COVID, she was forced to return to the Republic of Moldova. Here she had to rebuild her life from scratch, trying to earn money for herself and her seven-year-old son. Marina received EU support of 1,250 euros to launch an artistic handicraft business and create decorative items for weddings, birthdays, and other events.
After-school activities for children
Children in Telenești have access to educational programs and interactive after-school activities through the European BOOST project. The initiative complements the opportunities offered by school. EU investments include: space layout, purchasing educational materials and games, and funding training, coaching, and mentoring programs for teachers, trainers, and community animators in Telenești.
A hair salon opened at home
After learning the barber trade in Chișinău, Petru Burdujan returned to Telenești and opened his own barbershop with the help of a European grant. Now he also trains other young people, with the prospect of hiring them in his business. Petru did not think he would ever return home, but when he found information about the educational program of the NGO “Filantropia Creștină” at his hometown’s town hall, he decided to seize the opportunity and start a business in his hometown.
