Film Screening and Discussion: Documentary “Lower Dniester. The Language of Nature” at Europe Café

16/09/2026

The European Union Information Centre, Europe Café, invites you on Monday, September 28, starting at 17:00, to a special screening of the documentary film “Lower Dniester. The Language of Nature.” The event will bring together filmmakers, environmentalists, development partners, and nature enthusiasts to uncover the secrets of one of the country’s most spectacular aquatic ecosystems. Filmed over an entire year across all four seasons, the documentary showcases rare footage: underwater scenes revealing the hidden life of fish in the Dniester waters, alongside nocturnal footage captured with sensor and thermal imaging cameras in floodplain forests and thickets.

This initiative is the outcome of ecological dialogue and cooperation between both banks of the Dniester River. The production was carried out by the environmental organizations “Parcurile Viitorului” NGO and the “Pelican” Ecologists Association, members of the Environmental Platform established and supported by the European Union through the “Confidence Building Measures” Programme, implemented by UNDP.

Open Discussion on Natural Heritage and Ecotourism

Immediately following the screening (runtime: 48 minutes), the audience is invited to a panel discussion and Q&A session moderated by environmental journalist Lilia Curchi (Executive Director of EcoPresa). The panel will feature:

  • Petru Vinari, Project Coordinator, “Parcurile Viitorului” NGO;
  • Viorel Miron, Expert in Sustainable Tourism and Natural Heritage;
  • Dmitrii Bocearov, Cameraman.

The discussion will explore both behind-the-scenes filmmaking challenges and practical solutions to support local floodplain communities through responsible ecotourism and biodiversity conservation.
