
Construction of the bypass road near Bahmut village on the national route R1
Project Description
With European Union help, the bypass road to Bahmut will be constructed. The road will have a length of 6 km, on the national road R1 Chisinau - Ungheni - Sculeni - border with Romania. The works on the bypass roads will include the construction of new embankments, bridges, water collection and evacuation systems, relocation of utilities, installation of road signs and road markings. The roadway will be made up of two lanes, seven meters wide. The construction of the bypass road aims to reduce operational transport costs for road users by up to 15% and increase road safety.
Specific Objective
- To halt the deterioration of the national roads network in the Republic of Moldova;
- To ensure key road links brought and maintained to acceptable standards to facilitate economic growth and regional integration;

Expected Results
- To construct a new alignment for a length of about 5.9 km running south of and parallel to the existing road and close to the existing railway line.
- The new construction will be a 2-lane road of a 3.50 m lane width and shoulders of 2.50 m width on each side.
- An underpass for pedestrians, numerous culvert and three road junctions.
