25/02/2025

On February 20-21, 2025, a meeting of the Sectoral Platforms supported by the EU Programme “Confidence Building Measures,” implemented by UNDP Moldova, took place. The Sectoral Platforms are entities created by representatives of civil society, specialists, and professionals from various fields such as health, education, culture, sports, environment, and tourism. Since their creation in 2017 and to date, the platforms have promoted dialogue and identified replicable, viable solutions for the inhabitants of both banks of the Nistru River.

During the event, the leaders of the sectoral platforms presented their achievements and lessons learned. Here are some of them:
– How to involve young people in creating innovative solutions for environmental protection in the Nistru River basin;
– Increasing the competitiveness of the tourism sector through the joint development of tourism products;
– Fundraising to amplify results;
– Public event management skills and sponsorships from the private sector;
– Improving the quality of education by developing the digital skills of teachers;
– Increasing access to quality health services for all;
– Institutionalization of the platforms.

During the meeting, the platform members also learned about internal mediation and how this tool contributes to social cohesion. Veaceslav Cunev, President of ATIC and AI expert, presented the new trends in Artificial Intelligence to the platform members and made recommendations for ethical use. Zinaida Emilianova, manager of Business HUB Tiraspol, shared how to develop a strong community from scratch. The platforms have succeeded in gathering a community of members involved in the sector they represent.

These activities took place under the EU Programme “Confidence Building Measures,” implemented by UNDP Moldova. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in nearly 170 countries and territories, including the Republic of Moldova, contributing to the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. UNDP has been present in the country since 1992, covering two-thirds of local communities, including the Gagauzia ATU and the left bank of the Nistru.
