More than 100 residents of Taraclia gathered yesterday at the local House of Culture for a discussion with the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. Among the participants were mayors from surrounding villages, representatives of the district administration, local entrepreneurs, and members of civil society.

The conversation focused on EU funding opportunities available to local authorities and businesses, EU support for infrastructure development, and the importance of preserving the cultural identity of the Bulgarian community in southern Moldova.

Alongside EU Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks, who spoke about Moldova’s development prospects thanks to EU funding, Bulgarian Ambassador Maya Dobreva shared lessons learned by rural communities in Bulgaria during their country’s EU accession process.

The discussion addressed real concerns of the region’s residents and highlighted that Moldova’s European journey starts with community dialogue.

The visit to Taraclia was part of the EU Talks series — a platform for dialogue between EU officials and citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
