EU Talks in Comrat: Discussing Moldova’s European Future
The series of discussions about the European vector of the Republic of Moldova, EU Talks, continues. On Friday, April 5, together with the Ambassador of the European Union in Chisinau, Jānis Mažeiks, the team of the main EU information center in the Republic of Moldova, Europe Café, arrived at Comrat.
At the meeting with the young people from the State University of Comrat, the Ambassador was asked about Chisinau’s political relations with Comrat, and the export quotas in the EU, taking into account the agricultural specifics of the Gagauzia region.
We were pleased with the activity of the public and the diversity of impressions. Opinions were divided, with some speakers stating that the Eastern market would offer more opportunities for Gagauzia than the Western market.
At the same time, the statistics from 2022 demonstrate the growth of exports from Moldova to the EU, in general, and from Gagauzia, in particular.
Speaking about education opportunities, the Ambassador suggested that young people from Moldova have the freedom to study in European countries, and later apply their knowledge when they return to the Republic of Moldova, especially since the EU supports young entrepreneurs through various ODA funding programs, as well as other initiatives.
The activity is part of the EU Talks series of events within the #EuropeanYearofCompetences and will continue in other localities of the Republic of Moldova. The project aims to bring more information and direct interaction between the young people of Moldova and the official European diplomatic missions in Chisinau.
