“EU4Moldova: Start-up City Cahul” contributes to the development of regional business environment

Switching to online education during the pandemic revealed and emphasised the need to introduce Digital Education in the school curriculum. The teachers had no other choice than to assimilate, as quickly as possible, and successfully apply innovative teaching methods so that their school students could adapt better to digital schooling. Since 2018, primary school pupils study “Digital Education” as a compulsory subject. In order to enhance the teaching skills, circa 1200 teachers have embarked on the relevant education programme provided

by the “Tekwill in Every School” Project. As of the new school year, these teachers will teach subjects related to digital literacy, creation of digital contents, cyber security, as well as troubleshooting toolkits in the online environment. This Module will be taught to approximately 50 thousand of school students over the 2021-2022 school year. The training of teachers from the Southern Districts, namely Cahul, Cantemir, Leova and Taraclia, takes place with the support provided by the “EU4Moldova: Start-up City Cahul” Project.

“Chisinau market is pretty competitive and oversupplied, while in Cahul we have more possibilities to augment our visibility. Nonetheless, the economic operators lack basic marketing knowledge, while branding cannot be used in a company that failed to understand the basics of the field they work in. Therefore, the community events are important for the digital development and economic growth of regional companies”, Dmitri Moruz, “Hora Design” Founder, stated.

Such community events will become an obvious practice for Cahul Region, once the “EU4Moldova: Start-up City Cahul” Project has been implemented. To expand the business opportunities, as of 2022, the regional businessmen will have access to the EU4Innovation Centre – a single Centre of Excellence in the IT area within the Region. The Centre is being built on the territory of the State University named after Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, and aims to become an attraction point for all citizens of Cahul Region by conducting community events devoted to networking, exchange of experience, good practices and expertise amongst the professionals working in different areas. All these endeavours are made to expand the opportunities for professional development of the people living in the region and to foster technological entrepreneurship both in Cahul Municipality and in its neighbouring settlements.
