“EU4MOLDOVA: STARTUP CITY CAHUL”: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES CONNECT COMMUNITIES!

Over 10 editions and 200 participants! These are the first results of “Tech Coffee” in Cahul region – a platform that contributes to strengthening the technological community in the southern region through networking events, exchange of views and experiences to initiate local collaboration between people interested in this field. Being developed regularly, the purpose of the event is to discuss topics of public interest, opportunities, and also to identify potential members of the technology community. Thus, the project “EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul” aims to connect the local community to technologies and encourage economic development through innovation, entrepreneurship and growth of labor force.

The guests of the events are representatives of the academic and economic communities, professional entrepreneurs, local leaders and others, who share good practices, challenges and experiences useful for the progress of various local initiatives.

During the 10 editions, many topics were addressed, such as: the opportunities offered by the tech community, the potential for development and digitization of different branches of the economy in the southern region of the country, which is a startup and how to develop it.

“EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul” is being implemented in the period 2020-2024 by ATIC, with the financial assistance of the European Union in partnership with Sweden. The initiative addresses the sustainable socio-economic development of Cahul municipality and neighboring localities, which complement the regional coverage of development assistance provided by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. The project mainly supports economic development through innovation, entrepreneurship, employment for small and medium-sized enterprises from outside the capital, and also provides education opportunities for young people, women and girls in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As part of the project, a regional innovation and technology center “EU4Innovation Centre” will be created in Cahul, and a large group of local residents will become its beneficiaries.
