Europe Café has opened its doors to high-level officials from Brussels

In the context of the visit to Chisinau of Mr Josep Borrell Fontelles, the Vice-president of the European Commission and High representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Mr Olivér Várhelyi, Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, on 2 – 3 March 2022, the EU high level officials have also visited the premises of Europe Café, the main EU Information Centre from Chisinau. During their visit, the officials highlighted the European Union’s full support for the Republic of Moldova in addressing the refugee crisis and humanitarian assistance. Josep Borrell and Olivér Várhelyi appreciated the assistance provided by the national and local authorities to the citizens of Ukraine and mentioned that they will support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to manage the crisis. The two officials also thanked Moldovan citizens who responded by providing food, transportation and accommodation to the refugees.

The European Union will provide 20 million EUR to the Republic of Moldova for managing the refugee crisis and providing immediate assistance to Ukrainian citizens who had to leave their country.
