Medical supplies valuing 3.6 EUR million were provided by Czech Republic (on 12 February) and Romania (on 19 February) under the umbrella of Team Europe. The donation consisting in medical protective equipment has been provided through EU Civil Protection Mechanism as a response to the urgent call of the Government of the Republic of Moldova addressed to EU member states to reduce the pressure on the healthcare system of the country.
In response to requests for assistance and support launched through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, under the umbrella of Team Europe, the Czech Republic donated medical and protective equipment worth 1.3 million EUR. From its stocks, the Czech Government provided the delivery of 300,000 protective masks, 100,000 gloves, 5,000 protective suits and 55 lung ventilators to be distributed to hospitals across the country. One week after the Chech Republic donation, Romania sent a 13 trucks convoy worth 2.3 million EUR. The humanitarian assistance provided by Romania consists of 1,500,000 surgical masks, 100,000 FFP3 masks, 100,000 protective suits and 100,000 gloves, which were delivered to the Republic of Moldova. So far, the European Union has provided support to the Republic of Moldova in the fight against COVID-19 worth approximately 100 million EUR in total.
