Gender Dimension – a priority of local strategies in Cahul and Ungheni

In May, the local public authorities from Cahul and Ungheni were trained how to mainstream gender in local strategies, an important step in transforming them in gender champion communities.

During a series of trainings organised in partnership with AXA Management Consulting and Gender Center, mayors discussed about the stages of local policy development, how to collect the necessary sex-disaggregated data and how to make a gender analysis of the local context by analysing gender-sensitive indicators.

Often, gender is not considered when the road infrastructure is built. However, we can see how important it is to make equitable decisions for the entire population. We must ensure the access of all categories of citizens to roads, so that families with children with strollers, people with special needs can also walk on those roads”, mentioned Ina Rusu, Secretary of Local Council Tescureni.

These trainings are organised by AXA  Management Consulting and are part of EVA project “Strengthened Gender Action in Cahul and Ungheni districts”, funded by the European Union and implemented by UN Women Moldova in partnership with UNICEF Moldova.
