Global leaders and the local community connected for the digital transformation of education and the creation of new opportunities in the IT industry during Europe Day in Cahul

During Europe Day in Cahul, a series of events took place in the south of the country, which promoted innovation and educational development in Cahul. Among them were Tech Career Expo Cahul and EdTech Moldova Forum II edition.

At the EdTech Moldova Forum, the opportunities of the new technological era were discovered. The Corinth Library was presented at the forum, which offers access to a wide range of digital resources, tools and services to improve the teaching-learning process. The benefits of Microsoft Office 365 for education and its functionalities were presented. At the same time, new creative ways were discovered to integrate STEAM products into the teaching-learning process.

Also, within the EdTech Moldova Forum 2023, the challenges/opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence and how it can be used to improve education and develop the educational potential of pupils and students were also addressed.

In light of the significant changes in the technological field, education has had to adapt by aligning study programs to the needs of the labour market. To succeed in this transformation, it was necessary to train teachers and equip students with the necessary skills to face the challenges of the future.

The conference took place within the “EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul” project, implemented by ATIC, with the financial assistance of the European Union, in partnership with Sweden.

Tech Career Expo Cahul hosted representatives of seven technology and telecommunications companies, who shared their experience on current career paths, internships, cutting-edge technologies, market demand for IT skills and knowledge, and provided recommendations for building a successful career in ICT.

Catarina Nilsson, program manager at the Swedish Embassy in Moldova, was impressed by the results of the projects implemented in the south of the country and hopes that they can be taken over by other regions. “We will always follow what works, what is successful, and we could adopt similar projects in other regions or adapt them to local needs, according to the needs of local authorities, based on the situation and analysis. I see a lot of good results and I also see a lot of capacity at the organisational level.”

The events dedicated to the Europe Days in Moldova were organised within the EU4Moldova project: Startup City Cahul, implemented by ATIC, with the financial assistance of the European Union, in partnership with the Swedish Embassy, UNDP Moldova, the Swiss Embassy and the OPTIM project, USAID, Cahul City Hall and “Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu” State University from Cahul.
