Launch of a new EU-funded project “Edinet – insights into tomorrow cities”

On 16 June 2021, the project “Edinet – insights into tomorrow cities” was launched. The project is financed by the European Union and implemented by the Edineț City Hall in partnership with Alba Iulia City Hall, Romania. The launch event took place in the Vasile Alecsandri Public Garden in Edineț municipality with the participation of the representatives of the European Union, the local authorities and the citizens of Edineț municipality.

The aim of the project ”Edineț – a city with a future perspective” is to improve the quality of urban development, public services and, in general, the living conditions of the citizens of Edineț by applying of smart solutions in several areas of urban development:

1. Smart local government;

2. Smart public services such as urban mobility, public lighting, urban security, water supply and management of urban green areas;

3. Improving living conditions in residential areas; 

4. Promoting smart business;
5. Smart education.

The implementation period of the project is 1 March 2021 – 28 February 2025. The project budget is 4,358,886 EUR, of which 4,140,186 EUR is a grant from the European Union through the program “Local Authorities: Partnerships for Sustainable Cities 2020” and 218,700 EUR is the contribution of implementation partners.
