24/03/2025

Over 80 young people from eight regions across Moldova gathered in Chișinău on 21-22 March for the launch of EU Accelerator 2.0: Empowering Moldova’s Youth for European Integration. Supported by the European Union (EU), this initiative marks the start of a program designed to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to become active promoters of European values and Moldova’s EU accession journey.

During the two-day event, participants – members of Euro Clubs and the EU Information Centers network – engaged in interactive sessions, practical workshops, and team-building exercises. Lilia Duca, coordinator of the network, highlighted the significance of this initiative:

“EU Accelerator 2.0 is an essential platform for young people who want to actively contribute to Moldova’s European future. The programme not only provides crucial information about the EU but also fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and civic engagement, transforming young participants into drivers of change.”

Key topics included European values, combating disinformation, critical thinking, and advocacy skills. Participants also took part in team-building activities and discussions on Moldova’s EU accession process.

“This experience has given me a deeper understanding of how the EU works and why integration is crucial for Moldova. I now feel ready to contribute actively within my community,” said Nicoleta Lisnic, a member of the Euro Club at Constantin Stere Theoretical High School in Soroca.

The event concluded with a strategy session for 2025, where young participants outlined concrete action plans. They will now implement educational initiatives, awareness campaigns, and local activities to strengthen public support for EU integration. Trainer Sergiu Cibotaru emphasized the role young people can play in their communities:

“Through EU Accelerator 2.0, young people become more than just recipients of EU-related information – they become true advocates of European values. Their active involvement can help dispel misinformation and foster a clearer understanding of the integration process.”

Next Steps

EU Accelerator 2.0 will continue with a series of training sessions, experience exchanges, and civic engagement activities across Moldova. Young participants will have the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge locally, promoting European values and ensuring accurate public awareness about the EU.

About the Initiative

EU Accelerator 2.0 is a dynamic initiative designed to equip Moldova’s youth with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to actively contribute to the country’s European integration process. Through a structured programme combining training, engagement, and research, the initiative aims to build a strong youth community capable of fostering constructive discussions on the EU at a local level.

By providing young people with a solid understanding of EU values, institutions, and policies, the program seeks to combat disinformation, promote critical thinking, and encourage dialogue on Moldova’s path to EU membership. EU Accelerator 2.0 aspires to create a lasting impact by transforming young people into leaders of change and strengthening public support for Moldova’s European future.
